Volunteers are the heart of ANCA, and we deeply appreciate those who generously give their time to support our community. We could not survive without you!
By helping older residents – with befriending, driving, outings, or trips to the supermarket – you truly make a difference in their lives, and the gratitude from our clients is a meaningful reward in itself.
We want to ensure a safe environment for everyone, so volunteers must be between 18 and 80 years old due to insurance restrictions. Additionally, we require a DBS (criminal record) check, which we will organise and pay for.
All volunteers must also complete annual online safeguarding training, and lunch club volunteers need to renew their food hygiene training every two years. Your willingness to help others is invaluable, and we’re here to support you in this rewarding journey.

Volunteering should fit into your life, not the other way around!
At ANCA, you can choose a role that suits you. Whether it's sharing a cup of tea and offering companionship, taking someone shopping, driving them to a health-related appointment, bringing friends together at our vibrant lunch club and events, or simply changing a lightbulb or watering some plants, our volunteers bring hope and joy to the lives they touch!
When you volunteer with us, you'll be offering support to help people live their lives how they choose, and you'll have the power to make a difference for others and yourself. By gaining new skills, building confidence, and connecting with your community, you'll embark on a rewarding journey. Whether you seek experience or aim to give back, you can be part of something truly meaningful.
There's a role for everyone.
There's no such thing as a typical volunteer. Whatever your age, background, or experience, there's a role that's right for you.
- Retirees and Empty Nesters: Stay active, socialise and make a meaningful contribution.
- Parents and Caregivers: Fit flexible volunteering opportunities around your family life, stay active and engaged while helping your community, and maybe even enhance your CV for when you return to work.
- Students and career changers: Build new skills, gain experience and make valuable connections.
